Non-public safety guards shut the gates of the BBC workplace in New Delhi, India.

MUMBAI. After a three-day search of BBC India workplaces, Indian tax authorities mentioned that they had discovered proof of non-payment of taxes and undeclared revenue.
With out naming the BBC, India’s finance ministry says its tax inspectors have uncovered “vital proof” displaying “discrepancies and inconsistencies” within the tax returns of a “well-known worldwide media firm”.
Press freedom advocates all over the world condemned this week’s raids on the BBC, through which each journalists and accountants have been questioned and their telephones and laptops have been searched. Some slept of their workplace for 2 nights.
The raids come weeks after a British TV station aired a documentary essential of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his authorities banned it from being proven right here.
The BBC mentioned it was cooperating with the authorities and that its journalists would proceed to cowl the occasions “with out worry or favor”.
