Tyson Meals is closing two services that make use of greater than 1,600 folks to streamline its U.S. poultry enterprise.

The corporate stated Tuesday it plans to shut its processing, broiler and hatchery operations in Glen Allen, Va., and its plant in Van Buren, Arkansas. Each closings are scheduled for Might 12.

Tyson stated the closure will assist make higher use of all obtainable capability on the remaining crops.

The Springdale, Arkansas-based firm stated it would work with its 692 staff in Glen Allen and 969 staff in Van Buren to use for positions at different crops.

Tyson has made different efforts in latest months to consolidate its operations. Final October, the corporate introduced it was transferring 1,000 company staff from places of work in Illinois and South Dakota to Arkansas.

Tyson stated working inefficiencies have been partly responsible for lower-than-expected earnings within the first fiscal quarter, which ended Dec. 31. The corporate stated its working earnings fell 68% to $467 million over the interval.
